FedDev Ontario supports four Oakville projects to fuel community revitalization and create conditions for local economies to rebound – Oakville, ON

Community infrastructure is at the heart of local communities, bringing together residents and visitors alike, while supporting local businesses, jobs, and economies. Today, Pam Damoff, Member of Parliament for Oakville North-Burlington, and the Hon. Anita Anand, Member of Parliament for Oakville, announced a total investment of over $2 million in four projects to enhance Oakville-area community spaces through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), under the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF). These investments will help recipients to enhance community infrastructure and adapt public spaces to support the local economy and the quality of life for residents and visitors in Oakville. The four projects were submitted by the Town of Oakville and approved through FedDev Ontario.

The four projects are:

• $86,800 to support the installation of an all-season, multi-use sports court at George Savage Park that can convert from a basketball court to a ball hockey surface, then to a skating rink during the winter months.
• $656,250 to construct an irrigated Class A regulation full-size cricket field which would be utilized by the Oakville Cricket Club for games and practices. It will be able to host local and regional tournaments, attracting visitors from neighbouring communities.
• $750,000 for the revitalization of Wallace Park, making it a multi-faceted and year-round park catering to the needs of the local community. The project includes the purchase and installation of playground equipment and a basketball court, shade structures, seating areas and greenery.
• $525,000 to improve a 3.7 km multi-use trail along Upper Middle Road between Sixth Line and Joshua’s Creek Drive to improve mobility options and increase the level of safety for walking and cycling. The project is in keeping with the Town’s commitment to encouraging active transportation.
